Alex Zanardi dominated open wheel racing during the mid 90s, after frustating years in F1 Zanardi returned to F1 to endure a difficult and frustrating return to F1. In 2001 he returned to open wheel racing where in September he lost of his legs in an accident that nearly killed him.
