Dario Franchitti and Helio Castroneves raced on the Detroit street circuit, Helio won his first race at Detroit in 2000 and then won again in 2001 the last race held in Detroit until 2007. Dario Franchitti won there in 1999 and was runner up in 2001. The Detroit Street circuit has been silent considering that the race was canceled last year but Belle Isle's future is unknown.
