Ayrton Senna and Alan Prost dominated the 1988 but the 1989 championship is a different story. Senna was going to win his second championship but he collided with Prost at Suzaka he lost the champion while Prost went on to win his third. Prost then left Mcleran and moved on to Ferrari where was runner to Senna.
