Jim Clark was runner up to Parnelli Jones in the 1963 Indy 500 and he went on to it in 1965. Clark clearly was the favorite to win the 1965 because the Louts deam dominated F1 and he was at the peak of his career wining the world championship and 1965 and after retring early in the 1964 500, Clark was ready for the first Indy win.
