Eddie Irvine wining Ferrari's first constructors championship since 1983 did pave the way for Ferrari and Michael Shumacher's dominance of the 2000s. With Michael Shumacher out for most of the 1999 season, Irivne was the only Ferrari driver who could fight Mcleran and ended up giving Ferrari its first constructors championship since the early 80s. Irvine might have been the reason why Michael Shumacher is seen as the greatest F1 driver of all time because the 1999 constructor's championship would lead to Michael Shumacher giving Ferrari its first world championship in 20 years.
