Sure Theodore Roosevelt was a Republican but he was also a Progressive, it was during his presidency that the government got into people's everyday lives. For example the Pure Food and Drug Act really saw the government control drugs. But then after his Progressive Bull Moose Party lost to the Democrats in 1912, Progressies got in both parties resulting in government interference.
