If Penske dominated the Indy 500 during the 80s, the 1988 Indy 500 clearly defined, Penske cars swept the front row at Indy and Rick Mears went on to win his 3rd victory in the 500. Mears Penske had the dominant team for most of the 80s with four wins but Mears win in 1988 put that dominance at its height.
