Eddie Irvine might be the greatest driver never to win the world championship while Michael Shumacher is without a doubt the greatest of all time. After wining the 1999 season opener in Australia, Irvine was a threat to challenge Mcleran for the world championship. After Shumacher broke his leg, Irvine won at Hockenhiem and was in contention for the championship but lost to Mika Hakkineon. In 2000 when Shumacher began his 7 championship run with Ferrari, Irvine got the newely formed Jaguar on the podium twice.
